⚓ A Letter of Gratitude and Commitment – 2025 (Maritime Consulting within Global Company)

Image
From Insung Lee - SEASON 01 2025 was the year we planted the seed of Maritime Consulting within Global Company and watched it take root. Looking back on nearly 20 years of my professional career, I realize how rare and fortunate it is to pursue something I had dreamed of since I was young— to build it, shape it, and watch it grow with my own hands. And even more importantly, I know how difficult—and meaningful—it is to do this together with people I trust. As this year comes to a close, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all colleagues, mentors, and partners who have supported us throughout 2025. This year, we looked toward the same direction and truly shared a long voyage on the same vessel. There were countless moments—many of them challenging, complicated, and exhausting. Yet despite all of this, MCH stands where it does today because of: the senior and junior colleagues at the shipyards, the dedicated EY MCH team, and the shipowners and classification...

Evergreen Collaboration Begins: A Significant Step Toward Global Growth

Image
🌊 Beginning Our Collaboration with Evergreen The successful award of the MOL project marked a meaningful milestone in my career. The practical know-how, technical confidence, and collaborative capabilities gained throughout that journey opened the door to new opportunities. As a result, we were able to begin a new chapter of cooperation through a face-to-face meeting with Evergreen , a leading global shipowner based in Taiwan. For this project, my colleagues and I engaged with Evergreen over the past six months through online meetings and written communication. During our recent in-person discussion, we were able to dive deeper into the scope of CRSI for newbuild vessels and the annual services planned after delivery , aligning expectations and exploring future collaboration opportunities. The meeting resulted in outcomes that exceeded our expectations, and it became a strong indication that we are moving even closer to the global market. 🚢 The Value of Growth Built Throu...

KORMARIN 2025, Back on That Sea Again

Image
I stood at KORMARIN again, after two years. The excitement and tension I felt the first time had quietly settled into a calm confidence. The industry continues to move fast. People, technology, interests, and time— all shifting and reshaping within its current. And somewhere along the way, I, too, have been changing with it. I think I finally recognized that this time. There was a faint scent of the sea in the exhibition hall, familiar faces and brief greetings exchanged, the subtle warmth of the field I hadn’t felt in a while— and for a moment, the thought came to me: “I’ve walked this path well, after all.” This KORMARIN was not just another exhibition. It was a quiet voyage back through my own journey. The event comes every two years. Some years I came because I wanted to, and some years because I had to— carrying a tired heart with me. But this year was different. My mind felt steadier, my view less shaken, and the direction ahead already clearer. There...

Embracing Change and Challenges in Assigned Tasks!

Embracing Change and Challenges in Assigned Tasks! March 2016 – Working as a Researcher at a Shipyard] By the time I had spent five years working on Smart Shipbuilding and Smart Ship projects , news about "AlphaGo vs. Lee Sedol" started flooding in. Perhaps due to my experience working in a shipyard , where the shipbuilding industry is traditionally conservative and ICT adoption is challenging , I had developed a skeptical perspective toward AI. At that time, AI felt like nothing more than a buzzword —a term heavily used in marketing materials by global solution providers , rather than a truly transformative technology. (A highly personal viewpoint, of course.) Despite the overwhelming media coverage at the time, AI was nothing more than a buzzword in annual reports , something I routinely wrote year after year. To me, it was just another trendy term —one of many topics casually discussed among colleagues, mixed in with everyday office gossip. [November 2016 – C...
