⚓ A Letter of Gratitude and Commitment – 2025 (EY MCH - SEASON 01)

  • From Insung Lee, EY MCH - SEASON 01

2025 was the year we planted the seed of MCH within Global EY
    and watched it take root.

Looking back on nearly 20 years of my professional career,
I realize how rare and fortunate it is
to pursue something I had dreamed of since I was young—
to build it, shape it, and watch it grow with my own hands.

    And even more importantly,
    I know how difficult—and meaningful—it is
to do this together with people I trust.

As this year comes to a close,
I would like to express my sincere gratitude
to all colleagues, mentors, and partners
who have supported us throughout 2025.

This year, we looked toward the same direction and truly shared a long voyage on the same vessel.

There were countless moments—many of them challenging, complicated, and exhausting.
Yet despite all of this, MCH stands where it does today because of:

    • the senior and junior colleagues at the shipyards,

    • the dedicated EY MCH team, and

    • the shipowners and classification societies who trusted and worked with us.

It was each and every one of you who quietly strengthened us from your own position.

So through this message, I want to share the mindset I’ve carried this year
and the commitments I wish to keep as we continue our journey together.

🧭 1. I am someone who prioritizes direction above all.

Whether in a project, a team, or the maritime domain itself, I believe the most important foundation is sound judgment and clear principles.

That is why I always ask myself first:

    • Why must we do this?

    • What standards should guide our decisions?

    • What is truly the better choice?

And I will continue to share these thoughts
openly and transparently with all of you.

    👉 Commitment 1

As our business expands and unexpected challenges arise,I will be the first to set our direction and principles—so that we do not waver.

⚓ 2. I want to build a team that wins together.

In shipbuilding and maritime projects, no single person can accomplish anything alone.
Our work only moves forward when each role connects and supports the others.

For that reason, I strive to:

    • distribute roles clearly,

    • create opportunities,

    • build an environment for growth, and

    • take responsibility whenever it is required at the front.

I am committed to growing as a leader who strengthens the team as a whole.

    👉 Commitment 2

I will continue supporting each of you—quietly, from behind—so you can grow at your own pace and achieve meaningful success.

⚙️ 3. I want to be someone who speaks through competence.

Titles and business cards matter, but in the end, what convinces people at the site
is skill, preparation, and real understanding.

That is why I continuously strive to:

    • learn first,

    • analyze first,

    • move first.

And I will keep growing into a leader who leads through capability and readiness.

    👉 Commitment 3

I will learn earlier, prepare earlier, and become someone who saves your time and enables your work.

🤝 4. Above all, I believe people come first.

    Projects end. Results fade.
But the people we work with—and the time we share—remain.

When you are tired, I want to be the person beside you who supports you.
When you succeed, I want to be the one ahead who opens the way.

I hope to remain not just a supervisor, but a colleague and a true partner.

    👉 Commitment 4

I will seek to understand your situations, respect your time, and walk together through every moment of growth.

    🌟 Lastly

2025 was not an easy year.
There were constant challenges—projects, schedules, requirements, and unexpected turns.

    But through all of this,
I learned something important once again:

    How incredibly fortunate I am
to work with good colleagues, seniors, and juniors.

And so, I want to leave you with this one promise:

    🔥 In 2026,

I will maintain the unique competitive strength of a consulting organization,
while building an MCH community where everyone can find belonging, professional stability,
and opportunities for personal growth—regardless of gender, rank, or background.

    Within this MCH framework,
we will continue to acknowledge one another, support one another,
and take on challenges together—achieving meaningful results as one team.

In that place, we will grow together
so that each of us can become a colleague you can trust,
and a leader who helps others grow.

    And with all of you,
we will prepare for an even greater voyage ahead.

    Thank you, sincerely.
    Insung Lee, EY MCH
